It’s all about Jesus. Everything we strive to do and be is influenced by Him. In the Bible, a guy by the name of Paul wrote a letter to a church much like Love of Christ (LOC), but just in a different part of the world. In his letter he wrote these powerful words:

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.” (Eph. 5:1-2)

That’s what we want to be – people who imitate God by living lives of love just as Jesus Christ loved us. I guess that’s why this church is named “Love of Christ.” If we can love every day like Jesus loves us, our world would be a much better place.

Because we truly believe that, we made it our mission: to share the love of Christ every day. It’s not long. It’s not complicated. It’s not hiding anything. It’s just all about Jesus. Welcome to Love of Christ!

workplace and home!

At the Table With Jesus: Call of Levi
Our society seems to be moving faster and faster every year. When we’re running from one activity to another, it is getting harder and harder to find time to ‘squeeze’ in a meal. Fast food establishments are popping up on every corner supplying stressed out people at least some measure of nutrition to keep on moving. Family mealtime, if and when it appears, is savored for its rarity. If we rewind 2,000 years, a different picture surrounds the dining experience – it was often an event with profound social implications – so what would you do in these situations? Join us over the next several weeks as we observe ‘Jesus at the Table’, looking at the mealtime episodes from the Gospel of Luke to see what we might learn from Christ’s actions and words.

Trying to figure out who knew what and when has been in the news cycle again lately. It’s often hard to tell who is telling the truth and whether or not it was something malicious or benign. Keeping track of life and relationships can be similar to the point where we just want to call a time out and take a break. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could find another person we could trust completely? This Sunday we look at the final church addressed in the book of Revelation and find out that there is one who is faithful and true – the question is whether or not we will Listen UP!

Our nation has been reeling lately with political unrest. Regardless of which ‘side’ you find yourself, the undercurrents of our social climate seems to be one of sustained volatility and instability. Finding solid ground is not a new problem, however. As we look at the sixth church addressed in the book of Revelation, we see a family of God making a noble stand on an unshakable foundation. Join us as we ‘Listen UP!’ once more to the words of God for the church in Philadelphia and how we too, can rest on the steady and never-changing One, Jesus Christ.

    Series: Listen Up!
For many people, this Sunday is the big day. One that has been filled with planning and preparation – maybe even the fulfillment of childhood dreams. I wish it were about church or some significant spiritual experience with Jesus, but instead it’s the most watched television event every year: The Superbowl. While sports may not take on epic religious status in your life, it is a prominent part of our culture – one that can easily distract from eternally important matters. As we continue our study of the 7 churches of Revelation, we find a church in Sardis that was apparently having trouble staying focused on the right things. Join us as we Listen UP! to what Jesus has to say to these ancient churches and to us.

Work and worship sometimes don’t seem to fit together very well. I have known people who have refused jobs due to a ‘Sunday’ or weekend work requirements. How are we supposed to make ends meet if living out our faith means not earning a living? Unfortunately this dilemma is nothing new and as we continue our study of the churches in Revelation, we’ll look at one church where this was a major problem.

With the inauguration of our 45th president in the rearview mirror, many questions abound about the future of our country. Depending on who you talk to, it is either going to be great or miserable, most likely a combination of both (like all presidencies). While political leaders change with relative frequency, our God does not and neither should our trust in Him. This week, as we look at the next church addressed in Revelation, we are called to shape up as we Listen Up!

This is the month that many in our country realize they over did it on Christmas – whether it’s the hit on the checkbook or the number on the scale, we have a tendency to go big in our celebrations. As we look to the pattern of behavior promoted in the Bible, we see consistently that being ‘rich’ has little to do with earthly possessions, but rather is more about basking in God’s lavish grace. Once again, let’s ‘Listen Up’ to the encouragement of  Scripture as we continue our study into the 7 churches addressed in the book of Revelation.
