Pastor Paul and Pastor Steve talk about the balance of work and rest
and discuss Pastor Paul’s sabbatical.  Dean Kirkeby, the head elder
at LOC is a guest on the video as well.  The question for this week
is: “What do you think about Paul’s sabbatical and what do we
need to do as a congregation to prepare for it?”

WELCOME TO LOVE OF CHRIST CHURCH IN ST. CLOUD, MN!

It’s all about Jesus. Everything we strive to do and be is influenced by Him. In the Bible, a guy by the name of Paul wrote a letter to a church much like Love of Christ (LOC), but just in a different part of the world. In his letter he wrote these powerful words:

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.” (Eph. 5:1-2)

That’s what we want to be – people who imitate God by living lives of love just as Jesus Christ loved us. I guess that’s why this church is named “Love of Christ.” If we can love every day like Jesus loves us, our world would be a much better place.

Because we truly believe that, we made it our mission: to share the love of Christ every day. It’s not long. It’s not complicated. It’s not hiding anything. It’s just all about Jesus. Welcome to Love of Christ!

Directions: The Rythm of Work and Rest
Series: Directions
Are you rested?  This morning when you woke up, did you feel rested?  Do you get enough rest?  These are questions I have heard doctors ask patients who have become sick.  And what is the answer 99% of the time: “NO!”  It’s no wonder why God tells us in scripture to balance our work life with rest.  Come hear why and how to rest this Sunday.

It has been said that life is just one big balancing act. The challenge is trying to juggle all of the responsibilities and obligations AND keep our sanity! So how can you squeeze one more ‘to do’ (like church) on an already full list? Our Directions series continues this week as we look at balancing Life and Family.

    Directions: Changing Times/Changing Church
    Series: Directions

The world never stops changing.  Think about it: 15 years ago this weekend everything we know changed in an instant, in a blink of an eye, when terrorists changed planes into missiles.  Yet, in all the chaos of that day, one thing didn't change - the gospel of Jesus.  Come hear our gospel of hope and new life once again this Sunday at LOC.

Gone Fishin’ – Exciting Fish, Exciting Faith
    Series: Gone Fishin'
Any fisherman worth his salt will have a story (or ten) about the one that got away. Embellishment and fishing seem to go hand in hand, so when we see the account of netting a miraculous number of fish, we are understandably skeptical. Could Jesus have enabled his disciples to haul in such a great catch, and if so, what might that mean for us?

Gone Fishin’ – Fishing and the End of the World #1
    Series: Gone Fishin'
In the midst of summer and a growing season, surrounded by green at every turn, it is hard to imagine living in an area that is suffering a drought. The dry season and barren wasteland of winter will be upon us all too soon or is it already here? As we go through the challenges of life, we can often feel dried up and parched. God wants us to be well hydrated spiritually – so where do we turn for refreshment?

Gone Fishin’ – The Miraculous Fish Fry
    Series: Gone Fishin'
The "Miraculous Fish Fry” - that’s probably what Minnesotans would call the “Feeding of the 5000" in the Bible. You know, every gospel (Matt, Mark, Luke, John) includes this miracle of Jesus - it’s the only one like that. Why is that? Maybe it’s because Jesus wants you to know he cares about your stomach as well as your soul. Really.

Gone Fishin’ – Big Fish (Part 2) The One That Gave Away
    Series: Gone Fishin'
It’s not hard to see God’s plan in your life; you just have to stop staring at your own. This is especially hard for people who think they have God’s plan in sight, but have unwittingly supplanted it with their own. How do we know then who’s plan we’re looking at? Well, is it a big fish or is it the cross?
