Family Style Theology

If you’re anything like most of us, home life can be wonderful… and complicated. Marriage, kids, roommates, aging parents—or maybe you’re figuring it out on your own. Whatever it looks like, your home life matters to God. Our new sermon series, Family Style Theology, is all about discovering how God’s grace is already at work in your everyday life. He is working around the dinner table, in daily conversations, and in ordinary moments and relationships.

A simple working definition of theology is this: what you believe about God. What is he like? How does he relate to you and others? This series explores how those beliefs shape the way we live with one another at home.

Each week builds on the last. We begin with grace-filled conversations, learning to speak to one another the way Jesus speaks to us. From there, we look at marriage as a living picture of God’s grace in Christ. Then we turn to parents and children, where we catch glimpses of God as the truer and better Father and Jesus as the perfectly faithful Son. In week four, we gather around the dinner table and see how shared meals echo the coming wedding feast in God’s kingdom. Finally, we land on the ordinary moments, where Jesus meets us with grace in the middle of everyday life.

As you engage with this series, take a moment to consider: How do your beliefs about God shape your family’s life together? How can you fill your home and surround your family with words of grace? What is one small practice you can adopt to participate in God’s work already happening in your family? Below are further resources to help you ‘dive deeper’ into family style theology.
