    The Spirit of Christmas: Receptivity
Do you like receiving gifts?  Like when people do something nice for you, is it easy or hard for you to welcome their generosity?  Some people find receiving gifts very difficult; their pride or sense of self-reliance overwhelms a heart of gratitude.  Don’t do that with Jesus this year.  Receive him with a humble heart in faith.

This turmoil and transition is often called the Protestant Reformation and most agree there was one primary catalyst for this world shaking movement, Martin Luther. Who was this man and why did his writings and preaching cause such a reverberating effect that is still felt today? As we continue our ‘Roots’ series, we look back 500 years and note that Luther’s life plays out in two roughly 30 year periods – this week we look at Act I.
